Discover A Smorgasboard at Smorgasburg!

As a city, New York really does have it all and there’s something for everyone, whether you’re in it for the art, the buildings, the music, the movies… or the food! Yep, that’s right – NYC is where it’s at for culinary delights and there’s no way you’ll ever go home hungry.

The Big Apple is famous for being the inspirational melting pot that has given us all sorts of amazing dishes, with everything from eggs Benedict and red velvet cake to the Waldorf salad, the Reuben sandwich (yum!) and the not-so-humble hot dog brought to our dinner plates by forward-thinking New York culinary minds.

A foodie tour of the metropolis is always a good idea and you’ll end up discovering all sorts of new and exciting parts of the city that you might not otherwise have… and if you’re wondering where to begin with your gastronomic adventures, might we suggest popping off to Brooklyn and the weekly Smorgasburg food market.

What to expect at Smorgasburg!

A serious foodie mecca, Smorgasburg has been serving city dwellers and visitors alike incredibly well ever since 2011 – and, in that time, it’s grown to become the biggest weekly open-air food market in the whole of America, with bases not just in New York but Miami and Los Angeles as well.

In New York, it has three different locations – one at the Oculus at the World Trade Centre in downtown Manhattan on Fulton Street, one at Breeze Hill in Prospect Park and one at Marsha P Johnson State Park in Williamsburg.

This means it couldn’t be easier to get your Smorgasburg hit while you’re in town… but we can highly recommend heading to the third option on the list so you can explore Williamsburg at the same time, a district renowned not just for its food but for its street art, vintage shops, parks, bars and nightclubs, as well.

The food market itself is in a prime location, right on the waterfront with an incredible view of the famed New York skyline so once you’ve eaten your fill and you need some chill time, head down to the pebbly beach, cop a squat and watch the sun set over the water. An unforgettable memory, if ever there was one.

But back to the food!

The markets are all currently closed but they’re due to throw their doors wide open for the 2025 season come April, so great news for anyone in the city in the spring.

Hundreds of local vendors come together every weekend to bring us untold delights from all over the world – and you’re sure to find it hard to decide what to eat first. Make sure you come with empty tummies and a full bank account so you can really get the most out of your visit.

We tell ya, there’s nothing quite like sitting on the grass, with the city high-rises at your back and the water lapping at the shore, while you munch your way through bagel upon bagel, poutine, wings, barbecue, lobster, bao buns, ramen, pizza, Philly cheesesteak, po’boys, ramen, egg tarts, Indian street snacks, ice cream sandwiches… basically, if you can dream it up, you’ll find it at Smorgasburg!

What else does Williamsburg have to offer?

Of course, like the rest of New York, Williamsburg isn’t just about the food and you’ll find everything you need to keep you entertained for hours within two square miles.

The district is renowned for its vintage shopping opportunities so you’re sure to bag a bargain before going home. May we recommend popping into Seven Wonders Collective, where you’ll find truly unique pieces that will really make your wardrobe come alive. Everything from cowboy boots to sequinned bell bottoms could be yours!

And, of course, you’re going to need somewhere to go to showcase your new fit and there are countless bars dotted around the Williamsburg streets for you to choose from. One of our top picks has to be Maison Premiere, a New Orleans-inspired salon that has made a name for itself thanks to two of life’s main pleasures: oysters and absinthe.

As for entertainment once the sun’s gone down, make your way to Brooklyn Steel, named by Rolling Stone as one of the ten best live music venues nationwide. There’s always an awesome gig on so you can end the night on a serious high and float back to your hotel having had the time of your life from dawn till veritable dusk!

Naturally, this is just a tiny snapshot of what Williamsburg and Brooklyn has to offer and we can, of course, tailor your private tour of NYC to suit what it is you’d like to see and do.

All you have to do is ask… your wish is our command and anything is possible. It is New York, after all!
