1. BST Hyde Park
If you like your live music, then British Summer Time Hyde Park is the summer event for you.
Incredible shows are put on across multiple weekends to make one of the most popular summer experiences in London.
In 2023, the events start on the 24th of June and run through to the 8 July 2023, with acts including Guns N’ Roses, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Lana Del Rey amongst numerous other legendary acts.
There is a range of different tickets spanning across the weekends, as well as a free-to-enter midweek programme that includes live music, arts, cinema, workshops and lots of activities suitable for the whole family. There’s truly something for everyone at BST Hyde Park.
If you’re looking for even more green space on your next visit to London, it could also be worth considering an English countryside tour from London.
2. Wimbledon
For tennis fans, Wimbledon is one of the most iconic sporting events in the UK.
To emphasise just how popular it is, attendance reached a record high of 515,164 over the course of the tournament fortnight in 2022.
That said, even if you attend simply for the atmosphere, Wimbledon is the epitome of British summertime. On a gorgeous summer’s day, spectators can enjoy everything from fresh strawberries to Pimm’s to prosecco, all whilst you watch great tennis.
The tournament will take place from the 3rd to the 16th of July 2023. Tickets range in price depending on the court, and Grounds Passes are the most affordable option.
That said, tickets to Wimbledon are notoriously difficult to come by, but there are a few different ways you can buy them. Namely, you can join The Queue for premium on-the-day tickets, but you’ll want to get there early in the morning to be in with a chance of buying one.
Grounds Passes are £27 each, but the price is reduced from day nine of the event onwards.
Alternatively, Debentures tickets are available from a handful of secondary market resellers.
3. Pride In London
A huge summer event is Pride in London, the biggest and most diverse Pride event in the UK and not one you’ll want to miss out on.
This year, the Pride Parade will see over 600 LGBT+ community groups march, starting at Hyde Park Corner at 12:00pm and finishing at Whitehall Place at 6:00 pm.
Offering a range of food stalls to entertainers to performances from a number of artists, all coming together in the name of celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, Pride is an inclusive and wonderful event.
Taking place on July 1st 2023, travelling to and from Pride is most convenient by tube. That said, due to the volume of attendees, central London will be incredibly busy on the weekend, so you’ll want to make sure you plan your journeys well ahead of time.
4. Kew The Movies
Kew Gardens are some of the most beautiful in the whole of London during the summertime, so why not enjoy a film outdoors there when visiting London this summer? Enter: Kew the Movies.
As a collaboration between Kew Gardens and The Luna Cinema, Kew the Movies will be showing a range of different films across five days starting from 30th August 2023.
As the perfect activity for the whole family on a summer’s day, tickets are available for both members and non-members.
So bring a picnic blanket, grab some snacks, and enjoy.
5. Hampton Court Garden Festival
Last, but by no means least, we have Hampton Court Garden Festival.
The festival is the largest flower show in the world and is home to some of the most stunning floral displays you can imagine.
From talks to demos to music to food and drink, the festival is the perfect place to spend an afternoon as a family during the summer.
Running from the 4th to the 9th of July 2023, tickets are priced at £28.85 for non-members and £23.85 for members.
